Calling Young Photojournalists!
We’re looking for Things for Kids to Do in Mariposa County

The Yosemite Mariposa County Tourism Bureau invites all currently and newly enrolled youth 4-H members to submit photojournalist articles for publication to showcase Things for Kids to Do in Mariposa County. Selected entries receive a gold pin for participation in this event, will be included in record books, and will be featured in publications on Yosemite.com that could be seen by as many as 2.2 million visitors. Submitted entries will be judged by a panel and the top prize includes your choice of either a) a one-hour scenic flight for two with Airborrn Aviation or b) an overnight stay at Tenaya Lodge and a $100 credit for meals.

Your assignment: Submit 2-5 high resolution photographs and a short article (100 words max) of a fun thing for kids to do in Mariposa County. Photographs should be in focus, well lit, and showcase an activity
or place, anywhere in Mariposa County, that kids are able to visit and enjoy. Tell us why this place is fun and worthwhile by writing a short article describing this fun thing for kids to do.

Entry Requirements: Photographs must be in high resolution (300dpi), a minimum size 5x7, and clearly depict the subject matter. Articles should be no more than 100 words and must describe the location, directions to get there, and reasons why other youth and families would enjoy this fun “thing” in Mariposa County. There is no limit to number of entries per individual and you are encouraged to depict locations in our National Forests, public spaces, or anywhere your travels may take you within our “Mother of Counties”.

Submissions can be made online (at Yosemite.com/4-H) or by mail, and should include your name, age, and 4-H club.

Send your entries to: Yosemite Mariposa County Tourism Bureau, PO Box 967, Mariposa, CA 95338

To become a 4-H member, visit http://cemariposa.ucanr.edu/4-H_Program/ and follow the instructions for youth enrollment, or visit our office at 5009 Fairgrounds Road to complete a paper application and pay the
$40 enrollment fee.

Deadline for submissions is October 15, 2020. Prize winners will be announced on November 1, 2020.

*Any photographed individual must submit signed model release form before entry publication. To request the release form or ask questions, please email info@yosemite.com.
